Prepare the Way Burlington 2011

Prepare The Way NC was held at Harvest Baptist Church in Burlington, NC on May 13-14, 2011. Phil Downer and son Paul Downer were our speakers on Friday night and Saturday morning, and also spoke on Sunday morning.  Friday night Kick-off was a BIG North Carolina Steak Supper, followed by good testimonies, music and a great message by Phil Downer. That night 18 men made a decision to trust Jesus Christ for the first time and many others rededicated their lives.  We invited the Piedmont Rescue Mission in Burlington, NC to be our guests for the evening, they brought 10 men and they really enjoyed the BIG meal and the fellowship, and were blessed.  It was good to see churches and men come together to learn about being a disciplemaker and how God works in the lives of other men. We had some great Video testimonies from various men and friends in churches and we shared one Video Testimony from a friends son and his life, you can view it on YouTube below.

Saturday morning Phil Downer spoke on Being a Disciplemaking Christian, he told us of the legacy of how he and others were discipled and shared from 1 Thessalonians 2.7-13. Later that morning 55 men met and prayed, making a commitment that they would be involved to go and make disciples…be a disciplemaker.  Sunday morning at Harvest Baptist, Phil spoke to the adults on marriage and our commitments to God and one another and Paul spoke a receptive and alert group of teens. Many men came up to me on Sunday and said how much they were blessed by the weekend.

One man commented on the weekend
“I really enjoyed the messages, testimonies and fellowship. I was very encouraged with the weekend, I learned, took good notes and was motivated in my Christian walk…as a man a husband and a dadthanks.”

Thank you Pastor Larry Lamberth at Harvest Baptist Church and all the staff and men who worked on this weekend.  Thank you for your prayer and financial support of this weekend (PrepareTheWayNC.org). It’s a privilege to serve the Lord as we are Discipling Men.  Thanks for standing with us.  Please continue to pray as we meet with many new men for discipleship training and all of us as we grow in grace.
